The finality of Christ's sacrifice and its permanent effects are contrasted with the daily offerings made by the priests repeatedly under the Old Covenant made by God with Israel. The priests were never done and the sacrifices made were never sufficient nor effective to finalize the payment for sin. The New Covenant instituted by Jesus Christ provides for His death as the final and full payment for sin which is promised by God to provide inner cleansing and a good conscience before God. Under the New Covenant, this provision for complete forgiveness for sin, once and for all, is on the basis fo faith in Christ's finished work of making the sacrifice of Himself. The provision has been made for all but will be effective and efficient only to those who trust in Christ alone because of Who He is and therefore the sufficiency of His work.
