Yesterday we looked at the Unification Churches view on salvation, and who they say Jesus is. Today were going to look at how the Moonies see the Bible. What does the Unification Church teach about the Bible? Sun Myung Moon taught that the Bible prophesied his coming in John 16:12-13. “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (13) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth (supposedly Moon), is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself (that doesn't fit with Moon); but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come”(Moon did and he was wrong). To claim that the Bible foretells of a prophets coming is a common tactic of cult leaders, but they always take the scripture out of context. The Sun Myung Moon taught that there are three different ages to history. First there was the Old Testament age where Moses gave the Ten Commandments. Then came the New Testament age where Jesus delivered his teachings and wisdom to the world. Lastly we have the completed Testament age when Sun Myung Moon gave us his book Divine Principle. Moons book Divine Principle supersedes the scriptures in inspiration and authority. Moon teaches his followers privately that his book Divine Principle should be preferred when it and the Bible contradict. Moon at times even told his followers that they do not need the Bible anymore. 'You can do it even without the Old and New Testaments. You do not need them anymore.'
