How does the Unification Church attract its followers? There are two different types of people that Unification members will look for. 1. A lonely individual that does not look like they have any friends. 2. An idealistic young person who wants to make the earth a better place. The lonely person They will seek out young people on college campuses who are sitting by themselves and approach them. They will not tell them that they are part of the Unification Church. Again Sun Myung Moon taught that it is ok to lie to people as long as it furthers his kingdom. In fact, Moon claims that God lies to us on occasion as long as it furthers his kingdom. Love Bombing After introducing themselves to the lonely looking individual, they will begin a process they call love bombing, where they will shower the person with love, compliments and acceptance. Often they will invite this potential convert to dinner. During this dinner they will continue to build up this person with their love bombing tactics. The idealistic person The idealistic person is sought out using various tactics like placing ads in newspapers looking for “people who want to work for the betterment of mankind”. They will play themselves off as a Peace corp type organization looking for young men and women who want to help the world. The weekend retreat Eventually they will invite their potential convert to a weekend retreat. This is where things get strange. These retreats will generally follow the same type of outline. Lectures all day long followed by evening lectures convincing everybody that the end times are at hand. They are told that before the end can come the second coming of the messiah
