The promises given to Abraham were foundational, tangible, and concrete. The covenant made with him and his descendants, by God, cannot be abrogated. No matter how rebellious and disobedient there will be salvation for them because God's relationship with Israel is unconditonal and His promises irrevocable. Knowing that, the Devil, aka “the Dragon” focuses his efforts on destroying the nation in a desperate attempt to prevent Christ from establishing His kingdom on the earth. Satan's great wrath will persecute the Jews horrifically during the last half of the seven year Tribulation.
Imagery from the Old Testament's history of God's deliverance of His people from destruction is used to describe the preservation of a remnant of Israel during this future time of great persecution. God will provide natural and supernatural protection and nourishment to sustain a remnant of Israel, described as “the Woman” as the “the Dragon”, Satan tries to destroy them wherever he can find them. This persecution will be so intense that only God's direct intervention will preserve the nation.
It will be a time of salvation for the Jews while many of these will pay for their testimony for Christ with their lives.
