All of Satan's efforts are directed toward one ultimate goal. That goal was, and is, to prevent Jesus Christ from establishing His kingdom on the earth. Those efforts include tempting and troubling the people of God. The rest of humanity in rebellion against God is being used as one of his "resources" in his opposition against God's people. This spiritual warfare goes on today and will go on until Christ returns.
In the future following their defeat in heaven by the holy angels that results in Satan and his followers losing their access to heaven, the focus of all their energy and demonic power is specifically turned against the nation of Israel in an attempt to bring about their total destruction.
With Satan defeated, he and his followers are thrown down to the earth. There is great celebration in heaven as all those in heaven know the victory is the sign the time is close at hand for the establishing of the kingdom on earth.
Having lost his access to heaven, Satan is no longer able to make accusations against the people of God before the Lord.
The martyrs, by their faith, were victorious because Christ defeated Satan and they maintained their loyalty to Christ.
