"The Beatific Vision has puzzled Christians for centuries because the Bible makes it clear that no one can gaze upon the brightness of God's glory in Christ. So exactly what's going to happen to us so that creature can look on Creator with unveiled sight? We don't know for sure--John even alludes to that. He says 'what we will be has not yet appeared.' In other words, we don't yet know what we're going to be like, but something will happen to us to make this vision of the glorious Christ possible to the eyes of finite creatures. Whatever that is, John says 'when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.' The implication is that when our eyes spot Jesus for the first time, His blazing glory is going to melt away our creaturely incapacity to look upon Him as He is and that vision of Christ will transform us into an immortal incorruptible existence the likes of which we can't imagine. This will be the most shockingly spectacular moment we've ever experienced."
