The most powerful monarch in the world relates his experience of the living God via his 2nd dream, its interpretaion, and its fulfillment in his own life. In the first nine verses of this account (today's sermon) is seen God's pursuit of Nebuchadnezzar's previously unwillilng mind. This pursuit of God is seen in 1) The suddenness with which the dream came upon him; 2) The troubling character of the dream; 3) His fruitless calling of the Magi of Babylon to deal with the dream; and 4) His calling of Daniel at last. The text illustraates the vanity and hardness of men's hearts and God's irresistable pursuit of men in their sin. Eventually they yield to his power. Many who, like Nebuchadnezzar, are fleeing from the true God may be encouraged by God's mercy and his seeking them in his etermal Son, Jesus Christ.
