Reflections While Reading

Today in my reading, I read about the children of Israel becoming discouraged because their journey by the way of the Red Sea to compass Edom was hard.

I thought how many may have the same thoughts as they walk through this life. The way we walk in this world is not easy. We live in a crooked and perverse world. This world is full of sinful men. These sinful men act in sinful ways. Their sinful acts often effect us as Christians. Many may think that the way we walk is too hard.

Yet, we want to remember, the way of the transgressor is hard. Proverbs 13:15 The way of the trtansgrssor is hard because he does not have God leading his way. He does not have the Lord to rely upon or to protect him.

In Acts 14:22, the Word tells us that "we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." We should not be discouraged. We have God with us, to rely upon, to protect us.

If the children of Israel would have simply trusted God and not been discouraged, they would not have experienced the fiery serpents.

God sent the fiery serpents among the camp of the children of Israel because they spake against God. As believers, we will face difficult circumstances. We will face much tribulation. These facts are indisputable. Even though these facts are true, do not allow yourself to speak against God.

The children of Israel made the mistake of looking at their immediate circumstances, instead of remembering the promises of God. Keep your mind on the promises of God. Look beyond your immediate circumstances. This will keep you from making the same mistake the children of Israel made, when the way gets hard.
