Last year I was producing a blog by this name. During the spring I was asked to help my father-in-law with a project. I stopped producing the blog during that time. Now, I want to begin again. When writing a blog about what you read on a certain day, one problem arises. Our daily bible reading is supposed to be a time when we reflect on what we read. When producing a blog about what you read, sometimes your reading becomes more about the blog than personal growth. So, sometimes, the writer does not benefit from his reading like he should. Therefore, I do not know if I will write a blog everyday. However, I do want to share what I notice during my reading as often as I can.
Selah is a word in the book of Psalms which can be interpreted to mean; "stop and think about it."
Psalm 67:1 says, God is merciful, God blesses us and makes His face shine upon us.
Stop and think about these things.
God is merciful. mercy can be defined as "not getting what you deserve." How often does God not give you what you deserve? I think if we would consider this, we would recognize the mercy of God is abundant upon us everyday.
God blesses us. Since we are by nature sinners, we deserve nothing but death. Think about the blessings you will enjoy today. Anything that is not death is a blessing. If we really think about what we deserve, then realize what we have, we will understand God does richly bless us everyday.
Because of the two previous thoughts, we know God is causing His face to shine upon us. Try to look today to see all the places God is shining His face upon you. The number of blessings you count may surprise you.
