Coming To Christ Means Knowing You're Free From Sin (FTF-01)

In the movie, The Shawshank Redemption, Morgan Freeman's character Red is released from prison after a long time behind bars. The outside world is shocking to him because he's able to go anywhere at any time, there are no wall or bars around him, and he even is habitually asking his boss for permission to go to the bathroom. He is shocked by the freedom he has outside of prison that is taken for granted by everyone else around him. It's a very touching and insightful part of the movie.
It helps to describe the freedom a disciple of Christ experiences when realizing the freedom we have from sin. The New Testament writers constantly talk about freedom. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). It is for freedom that Christ has set us free...(Galatians 5:1). The understanding of "freedom" in the NT is an amazing and praiseworthy understanding and one that begins at our conversion and continues throughout our walk. That walks begins with the promise "and you will know the truth, ad the truth will make you free" (John 8:32).
That freedom is the topic of today's Ministry Moment with Pastor John Samuel Barnett.
