The wisdom of the conies is that they are feeble creatures who know they are feeble. As they look for safety and security, they do not look to themselves, but the rocks. They trust the strength and protection of the rocks to the extent that they make them their home. While they are weak and feeble, they are safe from their enemies in the refuge of their home. We very easily see an application to the Christian life here don’t we? Like the conies, you are feeble, and are unable to find safety and shelter in yourself. Your enemies are too strong for you to overcome in your own strength, and left to your own strength, you are an easy prey. But, when we run to our rock, Jesus Christ, we find all the necessary strength and safety that is needed for this life. When we run to our rock, we find the peace and security that our souls long to know.
