The evil that is under consideration here is Pride. Agur says that there are people who are completely given over to pride. They are self-absorbed and self- focused. They have given pride and inch and it has taken a mile. Who reading this devotion can claim to be immune to pride? Who can claim to be free of its power and influence? If we would be wise, we must pray that Jesus would give us the strength to remain humble in the midst of our self-delusionary moments in life. Pride is sneaky, pride is crafty, pride is dangerous, and only Christ can defeat its power over your heart.
