DON’T FORSAKE PUBLIC WORSHIP

I always worry when I see someone begin to miss the public worship service. God’s sheep are fed through the preaching of God’s Word. If a person does not desire to feed on the grass of God’s Word it is either because they are not a sheep so they don’t have an appetite for God’s Word, or because they are a sick sheep who has lost his appetite.

People make time to do the things that are important to them. If it is important to someone to hear from God and worship Him, they will make sure they are in the public worship service as often as possible. The Lord has graciously commanded all who are hungry to come and dine. The question is are you hungry.

If you hope for happiness in the world, hope for it from God, and not from the world.

“THEY REPENTED NOT TO GIVE HIM GLORY”


“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, Which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give Him glory.” (Revelation 16:9)

All things were created by God for His glory. “The heavens declare His glory”. All things on the earth declare His glory; the trees clap their hands, the birds sing; to the glory of God. That is why they were created ... for His glory. All things glorify God as they are supposed to. All but man that is! Man rejects God’s glory. Man attributes the glory of God’s creation to evolution and the glory of God’s salvation to man. Rather than glorify God’s choice of men, man glorifies his supposed choice of God. Rather than glorify God’s mercy to guilty, hell-deserving sinners, man glorifies himself for pretending to let God into his life. Rather than glorify God’s sovereign Spirit and power which quickens, grants repentance, faith, and fruit, man glorifies his supposed free-will and works. And so God created a Hell to put these vain glorious creatures in. And while in hell, even though they clearly see God’s holiness and power, yet they still do not repent to give Him glory! In the words of Thomas Adams: “They curse Him for their pains and sores, but repent not of their deeds. They weep not for the cause of their sufferings, but for the loss of their comforts. I believe it will be found that the repentance of most men is not so much the sorrow for sin as sin, or real hatred of it, as sullen sorrow that they are not allowed to sin.” May God be pleased to reveal unto us His glory. And may He grant us true repentance and faith.

Are you trying to seek the Lord among this worlds ‘dead’ religion? I don’t care if you are very sincere, very knowledgeable or even fanatical; if you think that you can find Christ by dead works, ceremony or law you are seeking Him, the glorious living one, amidst life-less and vain religion.
