For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15
Next Sunday we plan to observe the Lord’s Table and have lunch together afterwards.
We most certainly live in a day of changing things, and new things, but know this: The Word of God ever remains the same! If a doctrine is true, then it is most certainly not new, and if a doctrine is new, then it most assuredly is not true. And doctrine determines practices!

The gospel of grace stands upon two pillars, namely, what Christ did for us in His flesh, and what He performs in us by His Spirit.

House of the Lord
“I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1).
I can and do worship the Lord anywhere; I can pray and rejoice in God’s mercy in Christ anywhere; I can read the Word and meditate upon His grace anywhere; but there is a time and a place (referred to as the house of God) where people of God gather in His name each week to worship, pray, preach His Word, and encourage one another. He promised to be in their midst. They meet to seek His face, His blessings, and to hear the Word He has given His servant for them at that time. They also come with children to be identified individually and as families with the Lord and His Kingdom. They come to praise Him in joy and seek His comfort in their sorrows. For all these reasons, I am glad when that day dawns and that time approaches and I can meet my true family in my Father’s house. I must be honest, as one called of God to speak for Him: I cannot believe for one moment that those who forsake this sacred assembly and find every excuse not to be there (whatever the reason) have a true love and regard for our blessed Redeemer.

A NAIL IN A SURE PLACE
Isaiah describes the Savior as “a nail in a sure place” (Is. 22:23). This clearly teaches us that all of salvation hangs upon the Lord Jesus Christ. God has hung all of the responsibility of salvation upon His Son. What good news that none of my salvation depends upon me, but all of my salvation hangs upon the person of Christ. God has hung all the glory of salvation upon His Son. There is no reason for any glory in my sinful flesh, but how I glory in the person of Christ and the finished work of Christ my Savior. (I Cor. 1:31). May God be pleased to grant faith that hangs all of salvation upon Christ. Pastor Frank Tate
HEAR HIM
"And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him"(Matt. 17:5; Luke 9:35).
On this occasion the Lord Jesus was glorified before the apostles. There also appeared with Him Moses and Elijah when He was transfigured. Both Moses and Elijah were occupied and discussing the Lord's death, “his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.” When Peter saw this glorious sight he thought that it might be good to build three tabernacles honoring them, Moses the great lawgiver and Elijah the mighty prophet of God. About this time God was pleased to overshadow them with a cloud and to speak out of heaven unto the disciple. The instructions of God were plain and simple, "Hear Him." Peter, don't build, don't sacrifice, don't worship Moses and Elijah; "Hear Him." The command of the gospel has not changed. The command of God is as appropriate today as it was then, "Hear Him." God has given the whole testimony of scripture as an accurate record to bear witness to the glorious person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself" (Luke 24:27). May God give us grace in our heart to do these four things:
1).Receive with confident conviction the truth to which God bears witness. Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of the most high God, "this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation (John 14:6). God is only well pleased with those in Him (Eph.1:6). He is the only suitable and effectual sacrifice for sin (Heb.9:12).
2). Because of who He is we should hear Him with profound reverence,"Holy and reverend is His name" (Psa.111:9). His teachings are not the philosophy of men, but rather the doctrine of God, "My doctrine is not mine but His that sent me" (John 7:17). Therefore we should quickly receive His word as, "light" and "life" as the only foundation of faith.
3).We should hear Him with unconditional obedience. God told king Saul that it was better to obey than to sacrifice (1Sam.15:22). We are commanded to repent and believe the gospel (Mark 16:15; Acts 17:30).
4). Hear Him with joyful confidence. We can believe His word and trust His grace with certain expectation that the Lord Jesus Christ, fulfilled and honored God's holy law, made full and eternal redemption for our sin, entered into glory as our forerunner and is seated at God's right hand (Heb. 1:3; 6:17-20; 9:12).
