"The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes." Proverbs 29:13
The unifying thought here is that both the poor and the oppressor are both dependent upon God. When we look at the direction of the culture, and the oppression against all that is good and godly being led by men in political power, it seems as if they have an unfair advantage. Perhaps in other areas of your life, you are being hindered or oppressed by individuals who relate to you with ill intent. The good news of this passage is that God is just as sovereign over your oppressors as He is you. This is a comforting truth, isn’t it? Just as the waves of the sea are told: Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed (Job 38:11), so your enemies and oppressors are told as well. May we praise God that we are kept in the palm of His hand and shall never be left or forsaken.
