This is a testament to the tremendous influence people can have over those who are under their leadership. When leaders establish a tone or a norm, those who are under them will soon follow or fade away. So, when we think about the leader of a country; if he is wicked, those who work under him will either embrace and assist in wicked ideas and actions, or refuse to compromise and be replaced. While this verse is speaking of political rulers, it can apply to us in our everyday lives as well. Have you ever heard an individual complain about the amount of complaining that occurs in their household? Many times, without realizing it, we set a norm for our families based on unknown habits. May Jesus bless us to hunger and thirst after righteousness, that we might promote His Kingdom to a dark and dying world.
