God is not opposed to people gaining wealth, but He opposed to people worshipping wealth. An individual who is obsessed with becoming wealthy, and will seek ungodly means of gaining it, will not escape God’s judgment. In the book of Proverbs, this is a reiteration of the truth that those seek wealth by sinful means will fall into poverty. This poverty comes by the sovereign hand of God, and in His sovereign timing. While much could be applied from this truth, one thing that is very clear is that the love and trust of riches, will lead to poverty and shame.
