“Happy is the man that feareth always: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.” Proverbs 28:14
The thought contained in this passage is the perfect follow-up to the previous verse concerning confessing and forsaking sin. Whenever we are confronted with God’s word that conflicts with our flesh, there are only two possible results. We will either submit to God’s word in the fear of God, or we will reject God’s word in stubbornness. Notice that it is our perception of God that drives the response. Who is God to you? Is He your equal, sitting across the negotiation table? Or is He the master and commander of the universe, perfect in understanding, right and holy in all His ways? Those who see God fear Him, yet this fear causes happiness. Those who ignore God, or create a God of their own imagination, harden their hearts and fall into a snare. The most important thing you can do today is see God as He really is.
