Prayer for the church Please pray for the on going weekly activities:
That leaders may undertake all their work in prayerful dependence upon Christ.
That leaders will be given all the grace needed.
That the church will be diligent in prayer that we may see conversions ultimately resulting from all these outreach activites.
That we will be given the sensitivity to encourage one another in the work of the Lord.
Pray for our church meeting on Tuesday that we may know God’s wisdom and guidance.
Pray for Marilyn now that she has returned home and working with a new dog, Smudge.
Continue to pray for the work at Covent Garden and Soho that they may see a blessing from their out reach work.
Continue to pray for our local churches without pastors and few committed workers.
Pray that Peter and Mona will know the Lord’s richest blessing in their new home.
For the Local Area Knaphill The church correspondent writes: “Four members moved away during the summer, pray that others will replace them and also that God would lead us to a new pastor.”
For the Wider Area Thousands homeless after typhoon slams central Vietnam. The death toll continues to rise from typhoons that hit central Vietnam two weeks ago. Typhoon Xangsane (which means 'elephant' in Lao) hit the Philippines first before moving on to Vietnam. Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam were the provinces that were most heavily hit. World Vision Vietnam is providing initial relief to survivors. The team is taking in food, medicine and emergency shelter. The storm destroyed nearly 40 percent of the houses in the worst hit areas. Authorities are still on the alert for possible floods and landslides. The same reports indicate roads are damaged, telecommunications and power networks out, and fisheries and crops along a roughly 600-mile stretch in Vietnam are nearly destroyed. Da Nang General Hospital was overwhelmed with nearly 500 people injured by Xangsane. The city's local steering committee has asked the medical sector to provide treatment to those injured as well as guidance to people in typhoon-hit areas in order to prevent epidemics.
Christians worldwide join for a night of prayer for India As the number of Christians who are persecuted for their faith in Christ continues to grow, Christians are being asked to join together for a time of fasting and prayer. It's being called the "All India Global Day of Prayer." It's being held 13th & 14th October.. Hopegivers International's Bill Bray says their institutions, schools, hospitals, orphanages and their 20,000 churches will be joining other Christians around the world in prayer to, "intercede for the crisis situation in India and the persecution that's going on there in these last months. Hopegivers only recently was allowed to reopen their ministries in Rajasthan after their licenses and bank accounts were seized and their key leaders jailed. Bray says, "All over the nation there's almost daily report of this increased wave and pressure on the believers." The situation isn't over for Hopegivers. President Samuel Thomas still faces anti-nationalism charges, Bray says. "Twice this month we have been called to appear before the courts and both times the prosecuting attorneys from the other side have said they needed more time." The case has now been postponed until October 27. Despite the persecution, Bray says Christians are continuing their evangelistic work. "They're cautious; they're careful. They're not doing public evangelism like they used to -- street meetings and tract distribution -- but they're doing a lot more quiet witnessing one-on-one and continuing all the activities."
