I love to read the stories of God deliverance of Israel. Today, I read the account of how God delivered the army of Midian into Gideon's hand. God told Gideon,
Jdg 7:10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:
Jdg 7:11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.
Gideon overheard a man from Gideon recounting a dream. Another told of it's interpretation. This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
Gideon was about to perform a great task for God. The task was greater than Gideon's ability. He knew he could not accomplish this in his own power, he was afraid. Instead of rebuking him, God increased his faith.
Today, God may be calling you to do something greater than your natural ability. Often times people will rebuke us if we question whether our ability is enough to accomplish what God has asked us to do. When you are faced with this situation, remember Gideon. Gideon was afraid. God increased his faith. The disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith. Do not be afraid to ask the Lord to increase your faith.
Lord, increase our faith today. Give us the strength to accomplish that which you have determined for us to do today.
