Yesterday in our reading we saw a generation grow up which knew not the Lord or the miracles He had performed in Israel. When Joshua died, the people of Israel forgot the Lord. For this reason, the children of Israel turned to idol worship. Then the hand of God was against them for this sin.
Today, we read of Gideon. In Judges 6, Gideon asks the angel of the Lord,
Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
Here we see how Gideon knew of the blessings of God. He knew God had delivered Israel. He knew of the miracles God had performed. Gideon desires to know where the hand of God is now.
This morning we realize that our nation has turned it's back on God. Our nation has turned away from following Him. However, this does not mean God will not work in the lives of individuals. If you follow Him, as did Gideon, you will see the hand of God at work in your life. You can see great deliverance and victory, just like Gideon. Believe in God. Trust Him. You will see the blessings of faithfulness. God blesses His people who walk with Him.
