This sermon was a closing message on a Family Night Service at Bethany, in which the 5 members of the Bethany Gospel Singers gave their testimonies. (The group had been formed 30 years ago). And what better way to end a testimony meeting than by looking at the testimony of a blind man who came face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ ! All testimonies have one thing in common - each person has had their lives impacted in a mighty way by the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many things in this life that we are not sure about. But what a thrill to be able to say.....'one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.' (John 9:25) No-one could argue this man out of what he had experienced. He knew what he was before he met Jesus - blind - and now he could see ! So it is with the Christian - we know what we were before we met the Lord Jesus - 'guilty, vile and helpless, we' - but we also know the change that has taken place, through His Grace. Rev Elliott looks at this (formerly) blind man`s powerful testimony under three main headings: 1. The Terrible Condition He Suffered 2. The Tremendous Change He Experienced 3. The Thrilling Confidence He Manifested---------------------------------------Please listen also to the sermon preached the same morningby Rev Elliott, entitled:FULLY PERSUADEDIn his previous Sunday morning sermon, ("God Promises And Performs It !"), Rev Elliott looked at Luke 1: 45 - 'And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. ' We noticed that God DOES speak to His people, and He tells them things.... 'those things which were told her from the Lord. ' We also saw that God WILL perform those things which He has promised to His people.... 'for there shall be a performance of those things...' In this second part of the message, we see that the fulfilment of these things which God tells His people is intimately and vitally connected with their faith.... 'And blessed is she that believed......' Rev Elliott then expands this, and takes a look at the faith of Abraham, of whom it was said.... 'He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being FULLY PERSUADED that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform. ' (Romans 4:20,21) Rev Elliott looks at Abraham and... 1. The Obstacle of His Faith 2. The Object of his Faith 3. The Outcome of his Faith Yes, this great man of faith was FULLY PERSUADED ! I would greatly encourage you to listen to this sermon a couple of times. I know it was a personal blessing to me and I believe it will be so to you also.
