It is amazing that almost every deception found amongst professed believers spins from a misunderstanding of the law and it's purpose. The Antinomian thinks that the law is totally done away with because they think that The Lord Jesus came to destroy the law and the legalist believes that there is salvation in keeping the law, however in Romans 8:3-4 the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the law and the fulfillment of it in the believer. This shows God's holy character in providing perfection through Christ to those who believe(2Cor.5:21)Therefore we can conclude that the law first shows us God's Holy character and also in the law of Moses we see God's love for what is right and in Hebrews 1:9 The Lord Jesus loves righteousness and hates iniquity. Not only does the content of the law show us God's holy character but the degree of obedience that God requires (Gal.3:10) (which is absolute perfection) and that perfect obedience is found in Jesus Christ (Rom.5:19) Therefore those who eliminate the law and those who try to keep the law in justification are not seeing the perfections that are in The Lord Jesus Christ. The law first shows us God's perfection and then that perfection reflects back to us and shows us our total depravity and the absence of this work of the law in the heart will always lead to works for justification. Whether it is the works of the antinomian in "praying to receive Jesus" or the works of the legalist in baptism for forgiveness. When we see the the perfect requirements of God our mouths are shut and we feel our guilt (Rom.3:19) before a Just and omniscient God who can judge even our thoughts and motives and at this point a man will forsake his works by the work of the Holy Spirit revealing ,through the scripture, that everything he has ever done is sin (Rom.3:10-12) and for doing his best deeds he will go to hell, if that is what he is trusting in for salvation. So God loves His law because it glorifies His holy character particularly seen in The Lord Jesus and at the same time the law brings the man to the end of his works to fully trust in the person and work of our perfect Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
