Please remember to be in prayer about our conference on Oct. 10-12. Let us pray that the Lord will bless both the speakers and the hearers as the gospel of God’s sovereign grace is proclaimed. In this day of “enlightenment” when man knows more about science and medicine than ever before, man by nature is still ignorant of who God is. This ignorance is clear evidence of our spiritual blindness. It also shows us how dependent we are on God to save us and give us a new, understanding heart.
To confide in a Being invisible, and whom we have so deeply offended, and to hang our everlasting hope upon His naked truth, requires the exertion of the power that raised up Christ from the dead.
William Jay
A doctrine is not true because I believe it or because you believe it; it is true only if God says it! I do not ask whether you believe what I preach; perhaps you do not. But I ask you to search the Scriptures and determine whether these things be so. I am not afraid to submit my belief in God’s immutable sovereignty, man’s total fall and ruin, God’s elective grace, Christ’s effectual atonement, the Spirit’s invincible call, and the perseverance of the sheep TO THE WORD OF GOD!

WHERE IS THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH? (II Kings 2:14)
When Elijah was caught up into heaven in the chariot of fire, Elisha was left there alone with Elijah’s mantle. Elisha had the mantle of Elijah but he wanted the power and blessing of the God of Elijah. Elisha knew where God dwelt. He was asking for God to bless him the same way God blessed Elijah.
Aren’t there times when we have the same cry? When the world seems like it is spinning out of control around us, we cry, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” because we want the blessing of the Lord who is on the throne ruling “all things after the counsel of His own will” (Eph 1:11). When we have the presence of the Lord who is in the heavens, doing whatsoever He pleases (Ps 115:2), our hearts are calmed even though the world seems so uncertain.
When our hearts long for a word from the Lord we cry, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” because we know that we cannot worship without the presence of His Holy Spirit. And what a comfort to know that “where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matt 18:20).
When we are in the midst of the fiery trial sent to try our faith, we cry, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah” because we know how much we need the presence and power of our Savior. What a blessing to know that our God is in the midst of the fiery furnace with His people just like He was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3:25). When the Lord is with us the flames of fire won’t hurt us any more than the flames of Nebuchadnezzar’s furnace hurt the three Hebrew children.
Our message is not what the sinner must do for Jesus, but what Jesus has done for the sinner. Our message is not, "Will you accept Jesus?" But that God the Father has already accepted Jesus. Our message is not, "Will you make Jesus Lord?" But that God has already made Jesus both Lord and Christ. We preach a completed, fulfilled gospel and ask no man to add anything to it. Christ said, "It is finished," so if we preach anything other than a completed gospel, we are not preaching His message.
