This verse highlights the importance of knowing where our source of wisdom lies. The idea behind this passage is that although we might prepare our thoughts and ideas in a very organized and sensible way, we are dependent on God for the ability to communicate effectively. This may seem like an abstract thought at face value, but how often do we miscommunicate well thought out ideas? How often do we find ourselves frustrated due to poorly expressed thoughts that seemed so clear just moments before? The fact is we need God to bless us with wisdom if we are going to communicate well. Wouldn’t it be wise to make a daily habit of asking God to give us the appropriate words for the opportunities that we have on a daily basis to communicate.
