"The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility." Proverbs 15:33
How do you distinguish wisdom from foolishness in your personal life? Your answer to this question ultimately depends on where you place your faith. Many people choose to believe that they make their own reality. They live life making choices as they please and expect to avoid all natural consequences. This type of living comes from a heart that has embraced worldly wisdom. There is no honor in this way of life, because it is ultimately charted by pride. It is a foolishness that says “I know better”. I can’t think of three words that have initiated more devastation in the lives of human beings. This is the phrase that cries out of the heart of every individual who is preparing or in the act of rebelling against God. There is no wisdom here, and eventually, the consequences of foolishness will destroy the life of the one who tried and tried to convince themselves that they knew better. Solomon tells us that we are as wise as we are obedient. The God of all wisdom has instructed us in wisdom to walk in His ways. It is an act of humility to submit to God, it is an act of foolishness to rebel. Where are you today?
