The automatic weapon used by the murderous monk from Opus Dei in Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' is repeatedly described as a ‘Heckler Koch’ (DVC pp. 73, 241, 350) – presumably a reference to ‘Heckler and Koch,’ the well-known German arms manufacturer.
Omitting the "and" in the company name is akin to:
• referring to the famous British department store as ‘Marks Spencer,’
• or to the gun carried by Indiana Jones in ‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark’ as a ‘Smith Wesson.’
Small details do count ... and they are relatively easy to get right!
