What is your attitude toward sin? I suppose that is an obscure question since, in reality, it probably depends on which sin we are talking about. Our attitudes vary from avoidance, mockery, down playing, or even completely ignoring particular sins. While it is natural not to fear something that you do not feel threatened by; when it comes to sin, this is our problem. You see, the fool is confident, because he doesn’t see sin as something that is bigger than himself or beyond his control. The fool has a very inflated view of himself coupled with a highly deflated view of sin. The truth is we are no safer from one sin than we are another. Outside of God’s restraint on our hearts, we are vulnerable to anything, and have the capacity to develop an appetite for even the grossest sins. Where are you today? What pet sins do you refuse to fear and flee because you think you have it under control? The only help you have is the Gospel message: Keep on Repenting and Keep on Believing.
