Prayer for the church Continue to pray for Mark Roper. Pray that God may provide all the strength he needs after the homecall of his father.
Please also pray for his sister who is now seriously ill.
Please pray for David Wayman who is seeking the Lord's will concerning his future.
Please continue to pray for Philip and Elizabeth: with the concerns over this pregnancy; the burglary earlier this week; and Philipβs meeting with a consultant on Tuesday.
Paul and Janet thank God for the gift to Sarah and Ian of a daughter Amelie.
Please continue to remember Daniel in his preparation for exams.
Please pray for the on going weekly activities that God may bless each.
For the Local Area Kew and Staines are the churches on our Prayer Card for the coming week.
Kew. Praise for ongoing encouragement of partnership with Duke St. Richmond, for Sunday meeting and enthusiastic new midweek Bible study. Pray for insight as to how to share the gospel more widely in Kew.
Staines. Although trials come (and some might have qualified as fiery) we have to recognise the wisdom and kindness of God; a variety of different and often difficult circumstances doesn't change to underlying realities of salvation through Jesus Christ. We were blessed over Easter by the opportunity to commit our sins into his grave and re-start with his new life. Neither do circumstances alter the overriding command of God to preach the gospel; we have some gaps in our youth work programme that we need to close and we are looking at other outreach ideas. Pray that God will open doors for us.
Israeli Supreme Court Allows Church Building After a long legal battle and strong opposition from Orthodox Jews, the Grace and Truth congregation has been given permission from Israel's Supreme Court to complete construction of their building in a Jewish area near Tel Aviv. This is believed to be the first time that a Christian Protestant organization has been given such permission. Praise God that Tel Aviv has a strong gospel witness through the Grace and Truth Church. Pray that the building project will proceed uninterrupted. Presently it must be guarded day and night to prevent vandalism by Orthodox Jews.
Police Raid House Church Gathering in Turkmenistan Secret police and security officers raided a house church meeting in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat on May 3. Without a warrant, the officials took Bibles, assorted literature and video tapes, some personal pictures and a laptop computer. The Christians were then forced to re-enact the meeting while police videotaped them. Expecting further difficulties, the congregation is appealing for prayer. Government registration is required for any congregation wishing to meet in Turkmenistan. Registration, however, is very difficult and even those churches that are registered face such stringent restrictions that meeting is virtually impossible. Turkmen officials have said that churches cannot meet in government-owned buildings, private residences and commercial and residential districts. Getting permits to build is also nearly impossible, leaving very few options other than meeting illegally.
