Everyday Wisdom | Proverbs 14:1

“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” Proverbs 14:1

Only the deranged consciously seek to destroy themselves. Those with good sense always seek to build, to improve that which belongs to them. By the same token, no one of good sense seeks to be a fool. Most desire to be wise or consider themselves to be wise. But, the fool, envisioning herself to be wise, actually destroys that which she intends to build. Read the last sentence again. The plucking down of the house by the foolish woman was never intended to be destructive. However, our actions have consequences. We are not free to determine for ourselves what is wise and what is the best course for action. God’s authority is just that. It is absolute authority. His words are not suggestions. They are truth, and they are life. How then can a woman who seeks to build actually build (build up) her home?

  • By loving God through faith in Jesus Christ.
  • By submitting her will to God’s will in all things.
  • By actively seeking God’s will through His word.
  • By seeking counsel from older, wiser, Godly women who are absolutely committed to truth.
  • By rejoicing in rather than complaining about God’s will for life
  • By seeing her home as a sub-kingdom of God’s greater kingdom.
  • By loving her husband and children more than she loves her own ease.
