This passage addresses one of the most fundamental questions of life. What satisfies? Everyone, whether consciously or not, both asks and decisively answers this question. It is in the answer to this question that life investments are made. For the Christian, the answer is made by faith. By faith, we affirm that nothing, or no one, on earth can fully satisfy the soul. Therefore, we look beyond this planet to One who is only seen through the eye of faith. For many, this is a silly and life-wasting conclusion. There is an abundance of SEEN things or people that seem to complete life. But each of these seen pursuits is found wanting, or sorely lacking, at the end of life. Today, the challenge for you is to eat of Him that truly satisfies. The challenge is to walk by faith. The challenge is to shun the temporary and the immediate for the permanent and the patient reward. Do you see your marriage, or your singleness, or your job, or your status in life, as a hindrance to your happiness? If so, you are eating of an idea that will leave you wanting. You are frustrated because you are looking to something that was never intended to fulfill you to fulfill you. Heed the wisdom of God, and eat of the Bread of Life.
