"The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh." Proverbs 11:17
How concerned are you about your health? This can easily be measured by what you eat and drink, how much you exercise, and the amount of sleep you get. While we can all think we are doing well concerning our physical health, there is a sure way to measure whether we are being good or destructive to our bodies. Your soul works the same way. If I were to ask you how you were doing spiritually, most of you would say “good but not great”. If you want a concrete way to improve the health of our soul, Solomon tells us to be merciful. We might think of mercy as being spiritual broccoli. It tastes bad going down, but the benefits far outweigh the taste. Strengthen your soul today, choose to be merciful.
