In our last verse, we learned that righteous living would direct a person’s way. In this passage, we learn that right living also delivers. This is a wonderful benefit that God graciously reveals and gives to those who live in the fear of the Lord. Living your life according to God’s precepts and commands will deliver you from the many consequences of sin and rebellion. You will not live a life full of guilt and paranoia over the behaviors you have chosen. You will not suffer many of the physical ailments that accompany those who have given themselves over to rebellion and sin. However, those who live lives that are characterized by rebellion and wickedness will find that what they thought would bring them pleasure, actually produced suffering and bondage.
