"The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted." Proverbs 10:24

Solomon is speaking from observation here. This is not a theory or an assumption. As a general rule, the wicked will be faced with the fearful consequences of their wickedness, and the righteous shall have their desires granted. This proverb is rooted in the idea that we will reap what we sow.

It is natural for fear to follow the wicked, because we cannot escape the consequences of guilt. Unresolved guilt causes fear and paranoia in everyone. Fear of retaliation, fear of being caught, fear of natural consequences and many more fears follow those who are habitually involved in sin. However, the righteous (those who have been made righteous and are pursuing righteousness) will be given the desires of their heart. Is there something special about the righteous that gives them the ability to always get what they want? Well, yes and no.
