Life is a wonderful gift of life. God’s favors are more than we could ever properly tell. One of these favors is highlighted in this passage. “The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life.” There are many, many times I have found this to be true. I can think of so many righteous men and women from which wisdom and grace oozed out of seemingly every word. I am wiser and richer for their acquaintance. They are a part of the great cloud of witnesses described in Hebrews 12, using their words and life experiences to spur me on in service to our King. But I also realize this. We often do not appreciate the wisdom and wellspring of life that come from righteous men and women at the moment the wisdom is shared. It is often far later, when it is too late to thank and truly appreciate it, when we recognize the well of life that comes from righteous men. Endeavor today to recognize and appreciate the wisdom that surrounds you, and take advantage of it by seeking wisdom from righteous men.
