“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” Proverbs 10:12
Sometimes, conflict is unavoidable. Jesus told the disciples to not be surprised at the hatred of the world. However, much every day conflict is very much avoidable. How do we avoid this? By practicing true love. God’s love to us is a sin-covering love. Instead of delighting in magnifying our sins, God sent Christ to be the covering that would guarantee that He would never have to behold us in our sins. In the same fashion, He commands us to love one another. This Godly love is not just a fanciful feeling. It can be measured. I Corinthians 13 is the measuring stick for determining how well we practice love. As an exercise to put God’s Word in practical action, write down the known conflicts in your life. Make another list of the characteristics of love found in I Corinthians 13. Then, compare the lists. How are you or how can you implement real love into your conflicts.
