You may recall that we had come home for my mother's last days, but I had to return to Naples for a while in June and July. My scheduled ticket to return to Florida was for the afternoon of 24 July. About a half hour before my time to depart for the airport, Linda called me from Florida and said mom was in pretty bad shape and that I should talk to her right then as it may be my last chance. I talked to mom and told her that I loved her, and that I was just about to depart for the airport to come home again and be with her, but I also said that it was alright for her to go on and be with Jesus if she had too, and that I'd join her in Heaven later on. "I love you mom, bye, bye for right now." Mom couldn't really answer with real words but just sort of gurgled. Just a few minutes later, maybe five or six, Linda called back and said, "Mom's has gone on to be with Jesus." With that, I hung up the phone, walked down stairs, grabbed my bags and walked out to catch my ride to the airport. My arrival back home was the next afternoon, and the next couple weeks was kind of a blur, but the Lord's grace was truly manifest to Linda, myself and my brother. I know that there were many folks praying for us, and I truly thank you.
During the months of August and September we've been taking care of family business, and visiting churches throughout the S.E. We also were able to visit with my daughter and family in Wisconsin. While there we were in several churches, and also visited with folks we had ministered to in Germany and Italy who are now at the Maranatha Baptist College.
Now, the time rapidly approaches for our return to Naples on the 11th of October. We sure miss our church family and friends; it will be so nice to be with them again. We've been pretty much on the go since being back in the States, but things are winding down.
I have just received an unsolicited letter from pastor Frank Humber of the Summerville Baptist Church in Oregon: "This past summer I had the privilege to take my son and nine others from our church family to visit the ministry God is doing in Naples, Italy with Bro. Truitt. God is using him to do a wonderful work in a needy area. The Lord has him shepherding a wonderful group of believers that is made up of American Military and African refugees. Souls are being saved, believers are being edified, and God is being glorified in this place. We had a great time with Bro. Truitt and it was a great opportunity to get to know this wonderful servant of the Lord better. I want you to know that from the eyes of a fellow Pastor your investment in the Truitts and the ministry God is doing with them in Naples is a good investment. Your Missions support is being used of God to reach souls from many nations and spread the Gospel in a very spiritual dark part of the world. Please continue to pray for the Truitts and all your Missionaries as they are under attack from the enemy on the front lines in the battle for souls worldwide."
