"The LORD liveth; and blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted." (Psalm 18:46)
SING THE PRAISES OF THE SAVIOR Tune to "COME THOU FOUNT" 8.7.8.7. DOUBLE Words by JIM BYRD
1. You who trust the great Redeemer, Sing of Him who saved your soul; By His sacrifice for sinners, He restored and made us whole. Praise Him for His grace and favor, Praise Him for His love and care; None could rescue us but Jesus, Who with Him can e’er compare?
2. Lo! He left His throne of glory, Came into this wilderness; Came to save His chosen people, Came to bring in righteousness. Sing the glories of the Savior, Magnify the Lamb who came; Let our voices join together, To exalt the Savior’s name.
3. For our sins the Savior suffered, He was bruised and crucified; With His blood He sealed our pardon, "It is finished," Jesus cried. God in justice saves His people, For the law was satisfied; Now there is no condemnation, Christ our Substitute has died.
4. What though we be weak and sinful, Jesus is our mighty Friend; He Who shed His blood to save us, Will preserve us to the end. Sing unto Him hallelujahs, Let us all His Name adore; Soon in heaven we shall see Him, There to praise Him evermore.
THE SUCCESSFUL WORD As I proclaim the gospel of Christ (the eternal Word) to you today, I am assured of the certainty of its (His) success. "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11). That man who goes forth empowered by the Holy Spirit declaring the Word of the Lord is not on a fool’s mission. There are no "ifs" or "maybes" as to whether the Word will be triumphant. Paul said "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish; to the one we are the savor of death unto death; and to the other the savor of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many which corrupt the Word of God; but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ" (2 Corinthians 2:14-17). As I sound forth the glad tidings of the salvation of God’s elect accomplished by the blood and righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ, I know that the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper and the Word of God will accomplish the purpose for which God sends it (HIM) forth. –Pastor Jim Byrd
SALVATION IS OF THE LORD Those who make the salvation of sinners hinge upon the free will of man are the greatest enemies of the gospel of God’s sovereign grace. They do not truly give God the glory for salvation because, in reality, they believe every man is his own Savior. They would make the success of the substitutionary, sacrificial death of Christ to be dependent upon the willingness of the sinner to "accept Jesus as their personal Savior." Such people stand in opposition to the Word of God which declares salvation to be of the Lord; it is dependent upon the will of God and conditioned upon the shed blood and imputed righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. I refuse to call that man "a brother in the Lord" who upholds the virtues of man’s will. The advocates of free will know nothing of the blessed transaction which took place at the cross when Christ died in the stead of His people, putting away their sins and satisfying divine justice. Salvation has never been and never will be conditioned upon the works, the will or the worth of man. "The salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: He is their strength in the time of trouble" (Psalm 37:39). –Pastor Jim Byrd
LIFE IS A JOURNEY A believer sets out on this journey of life, and he has to travel many a day before he reaches his home. MY WHAT CHANGES HE EXPERIENCES ALONG THE WAY! Today it is fair; the next day there is a thunderstorm. Today he is on the mountain; tomorrow he is in the valley. Such is our journey – ever changing! But one thing is sure and never changes - OUR LORD AND HIS WORD. I don’t know WHAT tomorrow holds, but I know WHO holds tomorrow. I don’t know where my road may WIND, but I know where it will END! So, amid all the changing times and seasons, I will look to HIM Who said, "I am the LORD I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." –copied
