"Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him:
for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him:
for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
(Isaiah 3:10-11)

Rejoice in the Lord
Tune to "O WORSHIP THE KING" 10.10.11.11.
Words by JIM BYRD

1. Rejoice in the Lord, be glad every heart,
God ruleth on high His grace to impart;
Jehovah is Lord O how sacred His Name,
Bow down at His footstool His glories proclaim.

2. God governs on high, He rules from His throne,
Jehovah is Lord Who reigns all alone;
Creator and Sovereign, omnipotent King,
All glorious and holy, His praises we sing.

3. The Lord meets our needs with daily supplies,
Let praises from saints to Him ever rise;
He gives of His bounties to vessels of clay,
Provides for His people by night and by day.

4. The ransomed of God are people made pure,
Through Jesus our Lord our hope is secure;
His mercies abundant we ever shall share,
Receive full salvation and unending care.

WHO AND WHAT
Salvation, righteousness and everlasting acceptance by a holy God is only to be found in the Lord Jesus Christ and His work of redemption. Paul declared, "I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day" (2 Timothy 1:12). Who we believe is vital. Having said that, we also understand that Who we believe does not mean what we believe is unimportant. If what we believe were of no consequence, the Savior would not have admonished, "Take heed what ye hear" (Mark 4:24). We will only believe the Savior as we understand Who and what God is, what we are by nature, what Jesus Christ is in His person, what He did by His substitutionary sacrifice, and what was the necessity for the sacrifice of Himself. By effectual grace we are made to know that the only way God can be a just God and a Savior is through the person and work of Christ. "They shall all be taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me" (John 6:45). All who are divinely taught to trust Christ for salvation believe both Who and what. We have been instructed as to what we are by nature, a sinful people, cut off and separated from God, and we receive the instruction. We have learned that God is holy and "will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:7), that He can accept nothing less than perfection, and we believe those things. We have been made to know that we cannot be forgiven of sins and justified by God by human works or merit, but solely on the basis of the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ, and we whole-heartedly embrace those truths. "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified" (Galatians 2:16).

Let’s be careful that we do not undervalue Who we believe or what we believe because both are indispensable. We will only believe the right Who as we understand what He is - both God and Man - what His intent was in coming into this world - "to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15) - and what was required in order to accomplish that purpose - His sinless life, justice-satisfying death and triumphant resurrection. –Pastor Jim Byrd

THE SINLESS SAVIOR
Much notice is taken in Scriptures of the innocency, holiness and righteousness of the Redeemer; that He was holy in His nature, harmless in His life; that He knew no sin, nor ever committed any; that He, the Just and Holy One, suffered for the unjust. A great emphasis is put upon this, that the price with which men are redeemed is the precious blood of Christ, "as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot" (1 Peter 1:19). For if He had had any sin in Him, He could not have been a redeemer from sin, nor His blood the price of redemption. And yet more than all this, it is necessary to make this price a full and adequate one. It must not be the blood of a mere creature, but of one that is God as well as man. And such is Christ. Therefore, Christ, Who is God, is said to purchase the church with His own blood (Acts 20:28). Being God and man in one person, this gave His blood a sufficient virtue to make such a purchase. And a peculiar emphasis [is] put upon the blood, being the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God, which cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7). –John Gill

Our salvation is so well contrived, so well concerted, that God may have mercy upon poor sinners, and be at peace with them, without any wrong to His truth and righteousness. –Matthew Henry
