Hello friends, I have been reminded that it has been a while since I have sent out an update. I assure everyone that we have not dropped off the face of the earth, although there are probably some who wish I would (: . Actually, I have been updating those who wish to be through our blog. I encourage everyone to take a look at our blog from time to time. You can find it at mickeystokenya.blogspot.com.
As usual the work continues with too much to do and with too little time to do it. We are blessed with some of the greatest co-workers in the world that allows the work to go forward much farther and faster than we could ever do on our own. The ministry here is truly a team effort.
We have been planning and developing a couple of new ministries that I believe will help us go forward in a much more efficient way and also allow us to expand our outreach greatly. I will be introducing these new ministries in our blog in the coming weeks. We are excited about them and believe the ministry here is ready to take another step forward.
The Congo/Burundi ministry now named Grace to the Regions Beyond continues to move forward. Two churches have been started in Congo and one in Burundi. We have opened two branches of our bible college, one in Uvira, DRC where we have 15 students and one in Bujumbura, Burundi where we have 23 students. At this time the classes are meeting every Monday in Uvira and every Saturday in Bujumbura. In two weeks I will be traveling with Pastor Justus Oloo about six hours south of Uvira to the Baraka region of Congo to lay the ground work to open yet another branch of our college. My son Timothy will be accompanying us on this trip and then will remain behind in Congo with Pastor Oloo to do some ministry work.
As you can imagine this ministry, Grace to the Regions Beyond, requires an enormous amount of sacrifice, work, time and money. We always have at least two men from the Grace Bible Baptist Church in Congo at all times and they are usually gone for about six weeks before a new team rotates in to relieve them. At this time those two men are Pastor Justus Oloo and Brother David Awili. They have also been joined by a third person, Brother Isaac Amutabi, one of our Bible
college students and members of a sister church here in Nakuru, the Victory Baptist Church.
God continues to bless our family with good health and a desire to serve him. Timothy and Amanda are both about to begin their senior year of school and are earnestly praying about where God would have them attend Bible college. God has called Timothy to be a missionary and Amanda is praying about God’s will for her life. Charity is living in Cleveland with my parents, working at a Veterinarians office and serving in the ministries of our home church, Cleveland Baptist Church. A couple months ago she got engaged to an MK from Kenya, Tyler Hall. Charity and Tyler grew up together as missionary kids here in Nakuru and definitely have the same outlook on life. Tyler’s father is now a pastor in West Virginia but is still active in Kenya and often returns to help teach in our bible college. We look forward to welcoming Tyler into the family when the get married next June.
