Dear Praying Friends,

A few months ago, I asked you to pray for Pu to get saved. (As I mentioned before, Pu means “uncle”, and from this point forward, I will call him Pu Mun.) In a previous letter, I mentioned that Pu Mun is illiterate. This caused a number of difficulties in helping him understand the Gospel. However, this problem is experienced by many people in Cambodia, and sadly, it is becoming more common in America too. Though the Gospel is found and preserved in God’s written Word, it is not only for those who can read it. And though most of the soulwinner's tools rely on the sinner’s ability to read that which is written, it is still possible for us to evangelize people in this world who are illiterate. For “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Pu Mun had other obstacles in understanding the Gospel that did not come from his lack of education nor from the culture in which he lives. The most difficult obstacle for Pu Mun was the erroneous teaching of “Christian” churches in the province. These churches taught him that he had to “give his life to God” or “follow after Jesus” in order to get saved. Pu Mun believed that Jesus Christ was the one true God. He believed that Christ had died for man’s sin and then rose from the dead. This was all great, but he also believed that he had to work his way to Heaven by following Jesus. Discouraged, he told me, “I want to follow Jesus, but I just can’t. I have tried and failed.” After three separate visits declaring that the Grace of God is sufficient and that no amount of works done in the name of any god including the One True God could save him, he finally accepted the free gift of salvation from Jesus Christ our Lord.

In the past couple weeks since his salvation, his wife and children have noticed a difference. He has been regenerated, and now needs your prayers as he begins his new life as a child of God.

By the way, we met Pu Mun while out “door-to-door” soulwinning. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to witness, and together we will trust God to bring forth the increase.

In the Fields,
Rodney Ruppel
