Our joy is in the belief of the glad tidings. A believed gospel fills the soul with gladness. We joy not in ourselves, but in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. The more we drink into the Gospel the more does this gladness increase. The believing man is brought into a region of joy, and into contact with truths and objects which daily increase his joy. A believed gospel makes a happy man. God wishes us to be joyful, to joy in God, to be partakers of his joy.

"Let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice" (Ps lxviii v3)

"These things have I spoken unto you that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full" (John 15v11)

"The righteous shall be glad in the Lord" (Ps 64 v10)

"Her saints shall shout aloud for joy" (Ps cxxxii v16)

"The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Neh 8v10)

"Thou has put gladness in my heart" (Ps 4 v7) and many many more saying same thing
