One praise and two prayer requests:

Ten days ago we had a memorial service for a faithful elderly man from our church. When he died at the end of June, his wife broke our hearts by giving in to relatives and bowing before monks and idols. She came to the memorial service with her grandaughter. I believe it was a blessing for both of them. Thank the Lord she came, but we still have a lot to do in order to restore her to fellowship with the Lord and the church. Also at the memorial service were a number of members who have been gone for some time. It seems that God used this memorial service to help bring a little more unity to our church. That is something that we are in great need of right now.

Please pray for an older couple both in their early 70's. Samnang and his wife Sokhom have turned away from Buddhism and are now seeking truth about Christianity. Another missionary named Michael Carlyle introduced them to me a few weeks ago, and it is because of the Carlyle's testimony that this couple is receptive to me. They have come to two of the last three Sunday services, and are very open to me going to their house twice a week for Bible studies. Please pray for them to understand that they do not need to change religions, but that they need a relationship with Christ. They are very open, but without God's help they will never understand and accept Christ as Saviour. Please pray!

There is serious error in the thinking of some of our church members. It became evident at the funeral 4 weeks ago. Some of our people are as upset as I am about actions and words that caused serious ridicule to the name of Christ. Lord willing, I will be preaching a sermon this Sunday morning to deal with the topic directly. As I preach from Josh. 24:14-23, please pray that God will help me deliver this sermon in a manner that would be true to His Word and true to His Spirit.
