Liz went to the urologist yesterday with CT scan results. There are apparently 2 stones in the ureter on the right side, separated by a few inches. Also the right kidney appears at least partially obstructed. The urologist decided the best procedure was to remove the stones via the urethra with a special apparatus rather than 2 or more procedures with ultrasound since she had two stones separated by a distance.
However, this AM she began with a severe shaking chill with temperature 103F. Obviously although the antibiotics showed sensitivity they were not adequate in the presence of stone and obstruction. So she was admitted, to be placed on more intensive antibiotics and a small tube placed into the right kidney pelvis to drain out infected urine. An additional benefit of the tube will be to inject die since Liz had a dye reaction previously when given i.v. Then when the infection is better controlled, the urologist will attack the problem of the stones.
Please pray for the insertion of the tube (nephrostomy) to go well, the treatment to take ahold, and then the wisdom and skill to get rid of the stones and obstruction caused by them.
