Call to Worship

Jesus, our Priest, forever lives
To plead for us above;
Jesus, our King, forever gives
The blessings of His love.
The blessings of His love.

Thou hast redeemed our souls with blood,
Hast set the prisoner free,
Hast made us kings and priests to God,
And we shall reign with Thee.
And we shall reign with Thee.

The whole creation joins in one
To bless the Holy Name
Of Him who sits upon the throne,
And to adore the Lamb.
And to adore the Lamb.

He breaks the power of reigning sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood avails for me.
His blood avails for me.

(Tune: "Majestic Sweetness")

"WAITING FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST"

(1Cor. 1:7)

"WHAT A HEART-WARMING, EXCITING TRUTH TO MEDITATE UPON! The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The wicked may make ugly, blasphemous remarks in hateful mockery about the return of our Saviour, but those who love the Lord Jesus Christ long for His promised return with joyful anticipation. He Himself said, "I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am ye may be also" (John 14:3). True faith delights in the God-given hope of eternal bliss with the true and living God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

But how do God's children conduct themselves while waiting for that glorious, bright day when Christ Jesus shall return? Do we stand around gazing up into heaven? No! The early disciples of Christ were gently rebuked for this (Acts 1:9-11). Do we sell our personal property and foolishly robe our-selves in white garments, and on a certain day that some religionist foolishly predicted, place ourselves in some elevated position (roof tops; high mountains; etc.)? Many have been sadly disappointed by aligning themselves with those false deceivers. So much so, that many committed suicide afterwards.

While waiting for the inevitable return of our Majestic King, we should live each day as if it is our last, and make plans as if we had another one hundred years before Christ comes again. We are laborers together with God: we are God's husbandry, we are God's building. We should be about our Father's business! The songwriter expressed this God-honoring truth with these words: "Living for Jesus, a life that is true Striving to please Him, in all that I do, Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free This is the pathway, of blessing for me."

Brethren, this is how we should conduct ourselves while "Waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." By living for the honor and glory of the One who loved us and gave Himself for us. By proving the sincerity of our love by delighting ourselves in continual, cheerful obedience to our Lord's commands. By being filled with praise and adoration to Jesus Christ our Lord, the One who will present us FAULTLESS before Himself when He returns.

- Pastor Gene Harmon

Men do not KNOW Christ the Light by coming to the 5 points of Calvinism any more than they KNOW the darkness of their hearts by memorizing the 10 Commandments.

- Pastor Clay Curtis

IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1Thes. 5:18)

As believers we have so much to be thankful for! Who can measure the abundance of God's grace and goodness showered so freely upon us (Ps. 40:5 130:7)? Who among us can determine how many unseen dangers we have been delivered from by the hand of God's almighty power (Dan. 4:35)? Who is able to sufficiently honor and praise God for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that freely, sovereignly and eternally justifies the ungodly from all sin (Psa. 115:1; Rom. 3:24; 8:32)? And yet we do give thanks to God for all things (Rom. 11:36). Not like we should, not like we will some day, but we are humbled and thankful unto our sovereign Lord for all blessings both physical and spiritual (Eph. 5:20; 1Cor. 1:30-31). How could we complain of anything, when we realize that we are an heir of all grace now and all glory hereafter in Christ? (Rom. 8:14-17; Heb. 9:15; 1Peter 1:3-5).

There are really only two religions in the world. One of Cain and the other of Abel. One of Ishmael and the other of Isaac. One of Esau and the other of Jacob. One of law and the other of promise. One of Mount Sinai and the other of Mount Calvary. One condemns, the other finds no fault. One leads to bondage, the other to freedom. One tendeth to death, the other to life. One of weakness, the other of power. One of merit, the other of mercy. One of the weakness of the letter, the other of the power of the Spirit.
