No. It's been a great ride. But democracy, and by that I mean "rule of the people," only works if the people are good. If the people think correctly. If the people have a connection to God and His Word. Then good gets voted in.

Iraq may become, in some distant day, a "democracy" in the Middle East. But most of its people are Islamic. When they use the majority rule concept, all policies passed into law will have an Islamic bent. That may be good for Iraq and even that part of the world, but how does the Kingdom of God profit from that democracy. How does the Christian minority have a voice in Iraq?

Democracy worked for us in the early stages of our nation. People have voted for good policies through much of our history. But what happens when the people of America turn away from God, from righteousness, from common sense? As they seem to be doing in these last 50 to 100 years?

I can answer that. Democracy then produces abortion on demand, homosexuality on demand, sin of all sort on demand. And eventually the nation decays from within and falls, a la Rome.

Give me a king.

Not just any king, mind you. Monarchy also doesn't work in nations where the monarch is evil. Hey, nothing works when evil rules men's hearts. Oops, I'm supposed to say "women's hearts" too. Better throw in "children" while I'm at it. Writing is a dangerous business these days.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah." That's not a poem. That's a statement of fact from your Bible. Good things happen to a nation when the God of the Bible is in charge. And of course the God of the Bible has already held an election for who is to be the leader, the King. Votes are all counted. ONE VOTE for King Jesus, the only vote that matters.

Yeah, give me that king!
