If I were King in Washington D.C., part 2

So where were we?

Somehow I'm elevated to kingship over the United States. My word is law. What would I do?

One thing I would not do, unless this were the Millennium, and Jesus was reigning in Jerusalem, is force people to come to Christ. Christianity would not become the state religion. But His Gospel would be allowed in all public institutions. Like the schools, for example.

Prayer rooms would be established in every school. Christian ministers would be allowed to come in and share Bible-related topics with children whose parents approve.

While I'm on education, the public school system, especially as it appears in larger cities, would be scrapped. Guidelines and high standards would be issued. Parents would keep their children at home for as long as possible. Schooling for younger ages would be in the home. Children would be taught the value of physical work, and spend much of their younger days, and on into high school, at jobs that would mold their character, while they learned the basics of academics from parents or neighbors.

Specialty schools for young people who have decided upon a certain career with the help of their parents, would be established by those concerned. There would be schools with a business emphasis, others with technical, others musical etc. Basically it would be the college approach brought to the high school years.

Though most schools would be private, tuitions would be reasonable and students would be asked to work at the school to keep school costs down.

Schools would be male or female, but not co-ed.

Science curriculums would be totally re-done, using only factual material. Evolution would be taught as an interesting theory, placed along side the more reasonable approaches such as intelligent design.

History would be taught with no agenda in mind, again only wishing to tell students facts from the past, not mold their moral consciousness.

Biblical concepts would be allowed in every phase of the students' education, as a viable way of thinking. Prayer would be permitted for any number of situations by Christians so inclined.

Can you imagine an America with schools like this? Shouldn't be too hard. If you know your American history, you know that our first schools were even more radically religious than what I have imagined.

I've rambled enough. Got some other reforms to think through...
