I wanted to get this quick update out as I know many have been praying for us concerning these items.

We had 72 students in our English/Swahili classes this past week. A big thank you to Pastor Scott Hall who taught two classes for us and Pastor Chuck Madaus who preached in chapel. It is always a great benefit to us when we have guests from the U.S. who are able to come over and reinforce what we have been teaching. The Rift Valley Baptist College is a vital ministry in preparing people for the Lord's work. We now have pastors in many parts of Kenya, along with other African countries, that were trained in our college.

I am writing this short update from the airport as I travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo to meet with our men who are ministering in the town of Uvira. The Bible Baptist Church of Uvira has been meeting now for almost two months. We have already seen nearly 50 people saved and we are working hard to see the proper foundation laid for a strong church that will be able to reach out all over the vast Eastern Congo region. I will be meeting with a number of people during my short stay and will be preaching in both services on Sunday. My meetings and preaching will all be on the subject of Baptism. It seems that the doctrine of Baptism has been greatly corrupted in the Congo, even more than in most places.

We are scheduled to leave Kenya on the 7th of September for our furlough. We still have a lot of work yet to do in preparation for our furlough. Pray for Wendy as much of the burden of preparing the house, etc falls on her while I am on this Congo trip.

The family is doing well. There is a lot of extra emotional feelings as we prepare for this furlough as people say goodbye to Charity, knowing that she will not return with us to Kenya. She has been a great blessing to the ministry and people will miss her. We have been very fortunate that our children are willingly a great part of the ministry here.
