Dear Praying Friends,
Last night, we had a mid-week service of blessings. When I arrived to church, there was a young man waiting for me in a suite and tie. His name is Alberto. Alberto first reminded me that I witnessed to him two or three years ago in the apartment complex within walking distance of our church, that since then he has received Christ, was baptized a year ago, and is dating a niece of a couple of ladies of our church. The neice's parents have visited us from time to time as they go to another Baptist church further away. Alberto said he wanted to come to our church this Sunday with his girlfriend.
We also had three ladies (grandmother, mother, and daughter) visit us after receiving a flyer about next week's VBS. They plan on bringing their kids to the VBS. Also, a couple that have been coming since our big day last April were in church as well. Paula, the wife, was saved on our big day and told us last night that she wants to be baptized. She will be one of six adults that will be baptized this Sunday. What is wonderful about that is that her husband, Marcos, is the nephew of a man in our church named Gerardo that has been coming since April and that for a long time has been praying with his wife to see his family and neighbors reached for Christ. Since then, we have baptized Gerardo, his wife, his son, his daughter-in-law, a neighbor that he had brought to church and was saved last May; and, this Sunday, besides Paula, we will be baptizing another neighbor of Gerardo, Hector, whom we saw saved out of drugs last May as well.
Others who will be baptized also have great stories. Ana Maria is an older lady who had a blood clot in her brain last spring which caused her to be completely out of her mind. Of course, we were praying for her. The day they were going to operate on her, they did more X-rays and the doctors were surprised to find that the blood clot had completely disappeared and now Ana Maria acts completely normal as before. She is surprised that she acted the way she did when she was out of it. Also, her teenage granddaughter who was saved last December will be baptized with her. Another great story is of Armando. His brother, Raymundo, after two years of attending our church, finally joined the church with his wife last May. The next Sunday he brought his brother, Armando, to church. Since then, Armando has been saved and will be baptized this Sunday. Raymundo's wife is also the aunt of the girl that Alberto, the young man of the first paragraph, is dating. Another man who will be baptized is Abraham, a lawyer that has been attending for the last six months. Abraham had to make the desicion to send away the woman he had been living with, but he wants to do God's will above all and has peace in his heart and a clean concience. Please pray for these soon-to-be-baptized Christians.
We had 8 boys go to teen camp last week and VBS is next week. Please pray that we reach new kids and families. Rhonda and the kids are packing. We plan to be leave for the States on August 24 for our year-long furlough. We hope to see many of you soon. Pray for missionary Sam Eastep as he leads the work this next year.
Thank you for your prayers, Clint Rardin |
