Call to Worship
Christ bears the name of all his saints,
Deep on his heart engraved;
Attentive to the state and wants
Of all his love has saved.
In him a holiness complete,
Light and perfection shine;
And wisdom, grace, and glory meet;
A Savior all divine.
The blood, which, as a priest, he bears
For sinners, is his own;
The incense of his prayers and tears
Perfumes the holy throne.
In him my weary soul has rest,
Though I am weak and vile;
I read my name upon his breast,
And see the Father smile.
(Tune: Amazing Grace)
Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
What assurance this ought to give every believer. Assurance comes from being sure that what God has said is absolute truth. Lack of assurance happens when we begin to be unsure of God's word.

IF BAPTISM DOES NOT SAVE, WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Baptism is a ceremony, and nothing more. There is no saving efficacy in it nor is it a means through which grace is conveyed. But, that does not take away from its importance. The marriage ceremony does not cause a man and woman to love one another. They love each other before they participated in the marriage ceremony. But if they refuse to participate in the marriage ceremony, and live together without it, they say by that, that they do not love one another enough to be totally committed to one another. This shows how important the marriage ceremony is. There is no true love without it.
Baptism is the same. It does not cause salvation. It speaks of a relationship that was already there before the ceremony. And that relationship was caused by what baptism depicts: Union with Christ. For someone to refuse Baptism is like someone who refuses the marriage covenant and ceremony. That person says by their actions, "I do not love Christ enough to commit to Him." Love like that is not love at all! Yes, Baptism is important. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16).

The old truth preached by Spurgeon, Bunyan, the reformers, and the Apostles, is the truth that we must preach today or else be liars to our consciences and to our God. We dare not try to shape truth or smooth away the sharp edges of the doctrines. Mankind is still DEPRAVED (totally), God has ELECTED a people. Christ sufficiently and EFFECTUALLY REDEEMED the elect, the Holy Spirit will CALL out His sheep through the preaching of the Gospel, and all whom He justifies and calls will PERSEVERE! Some ministers profess to be SOUND in grace, but it does not sound like grace when they preach it.

For by the grace of God you have been saved." What is grace? Grace is the goodness of God. Grace is the free mercy of God. Grace is undeserved, it is unmerited, and it is unearned. Someone said this, "Grace is God giving us what we don't deserve." It's not what we've earned, merited or in most cases, we haven't even sought. God Almighty's free grace and mercy is in Christ Jesus. I will tell you this, "The grace of God does not try to save; it saves!" The scripture says, "For by grace, you have been saved." Grace doesn't try to save somebody. I hear often times; preacher's saying that God is trying to save you. No, the grace of God does not try to save; it saves. The grace of God doesn't do its best to save; it saves. The grace of God does not make us savable; it saves us. The grace of God does not need any help from us. Again, "For by grace you have been saved." You have been saved from all past sins, saved from all present sins, and saved by His grace from all future sins.
Pastor Henry Mahan
The believer's true joy is Christ. We joy in Him as God our savior.
